WHAT'S NEW IN 2012
Under10’s Champions League.
In 2012 we will be running an Under 10’s & 11's “CHAMPIONS LEAGUE” competition in the Southern & Eastern Suburbs. Just like 2011, the Under 10’s & 11's will be playing on a 65m x 40m approx Field at Jellicoe Park & Queens Park on Saturday's and Hensley Athletic Field on Wednesday night’s under lights.
New Playing Strips
All Under 10’s & 11's will be wearing strips of the team they are playing for eg. Manchester Utd, Barcelona, Celtic etc.
Hensley Athletic Field
For 2012, we have entered into an agreement for the use of Hensley Athletic Field on Wednesday night’s.
Hensley Athletic Field was upgraded in 2010 and now includes an all weather football field, which also means no wash outs and games will be played under lights. We envisage each team playing on Hensley fortnightly.
"Hensley Athletic Field includes a new synthetic playing surface and running track after the local council received a $2.2 million dollar federal government upgrade to the facility in 2010. Upgrades were also completed on the grandstand, canteen, change rooms and bathrooms. The new playing surface provides a true bounce and an environment where players are excited to play on.Being synthetic, this means no washout’s so be prepared for Wednesday night fixtures whatever the weather"
New Fields
Botany Council has agreed to install another 4 new fields at Jellicoe Park for the Under 10’s & 11's Champions League competition. Together with the 2 fields installed in 2011 this brings the total number of fields to 6. All fields will have permanent posts and linemarkings.
More games
In 2011 all teams played at least 23 games. We will endeavour to give all teams as many games as possible.
New lights
To assist with training, Botany Council has installed 5 new light poles at Jellicoe Park. This will also allow us to schedule games mid week.
Referees Branch
In 2012 the referees branch will supply referees for the 10's & 11's age groups.
Gala Days
The Under 10's Vasin Cup gala Day will again be held at jellicoe Park in 2012. The "Vasin Cup" has a proud history dating back to the 1980's. It is well known for being a strong competition but at the same time it's a great day out for family & friends. In the past, teams have participated form the Central Coast and the Illawara. Past winners include Sydney United Juniors, Apia Leichhardt Tigers and Marconi Fairfield. There will also be an U11's Gala day in 2012 at Jellicoe Park.
For more information on the Gala Day email Bryan at: pagewood.soccer@optusnet.com.au
Head Coach
Craig Sharpley has accepted the role as Head Coach in 2012. The role of Head Coach is designed to respond to “local” technical football needs in the Club at a given time. For 2012 the focus will be “Coach Education and Development” through both formal and informal programs, conducted centrally at Jellicoe Park. Craig will seek to assist and develop the skills, knowledge and capacities of all Team coaches at all levels of the game. Particular emphasis will initially be placed on training and support for the U10's & 11's Champions League.

Ages 10 to 12
More than likely, children ages 10 to 12 have had some experience playing soccer in the past and are continuing with it because the sport has piqued their interest. Keep the positive momentum going by adding to their foundation of skills. Fuel their desire to continue playing by conducting practices that are both challenging and fun.
Quite often, sports take on added importance at this juncture in their life, and they really want to do well. As children hit this age range, many become more competitive, and winning and losing take on more importance in their lives. They begin embracing the challenge of putting their skills to the test and trying to outperform other kids their age. When they help the team prevail, they feel immense satisfaction accompanied by a unique feeling of accomplishment that can be attained only through the wonderful world of playing youth soccer.
